Eesh. I’m really playing catchup on this post. My apologies. If you want to be immersed in my life’s trivialities on a somewhat regular basis, you can follow my Twitter stream.
For the 2 people that read my blog that don’t read Techcrunch (hi Mom, hi Grandma!), here’s a link to the Techcrunch article that I wrote awhile back on Virtual Goods: the Next Big Business Model.
Also, the videos from the Virtual Goods Summit can be found here. These are all worth watching, but if you have only 1 hr, I highly recommend that you watch the first one, Virtual Goods Success Stories. Kira from Neopets, Paul from Habbo Hotel, David from Tencent, and Min from Nexon all disclose fascinating and very proprietary statistics about their businesses.
I’m just getting back from a brief vacation. I thought about going somewhere exotic, but I ended up being very, very lazy. I went to San Diego, hung out with old friends at ComicCon, and emptied my brain at the beach. I read about a dozen books and watched Season 1 and 2 of Battlestar Galactica. I know that sounds horribly dorky, but alas. What can one do?

One could do much worse for vacation than having the time to read books and watch such fine writing as BSG seasons.

I’m now done with Season 3. It got a bit mystical for me at the end. But I love a good mystery and I can’t wait to find out who the 5th uber cylon is.

Yeah. I confess that I found the use of “All Along the Watchtower” to be a little too anacronistic. But the selection of the four they revealed put an interesting spin on human-Cylon couplings and relationships. For one thing, Hera is no longer the only hybrid. Starbuck fought off one Cylon’s amorous advances only to marry another. And her hubby, for that matter, when he thought she was cheating (and then later on dead), turned to the arms of a deep-cover.
Of course, since they’re all uber-Cyclons, a lot of the dynamics that existed with the present seven vis-a-vis humans might not apply. At first, I thought we’d find out that Starbuck was the Cyclon Queen, but I’m not so sure. I *am* fairly certain the big #1 is going to be female, however. As it stands, the count is seven males to four females. Given the general pantheistic nature of the show thus far, my money’s on a woman. That said, if they choose the president, that will just be taking the easy way out…
